It has a small pool to tip your tootsies in, fitting for a relaxing end to a hard day’s adventuring. If you’re after a tranquil home, intricately built using vibrant and traditional colors, this Minecraft Japanese house build by Zaypixel is a doddle to build. The main materials for crafting this are cobblestone, dark oak, spruce, Prismarine, and sandstone – and you can surround it with blossom trees using pink wool. Our favorite detail is the prismarine roof, which contrasts nicely against all the dark oak. No complex designs, no rare materials, and just enough room to fulfill its purpose.

With a little imagination, you can create dinosaur sculptures using various blocks like Wool, Terracotta, or Concrete. A Medieval Castle is more than just large walls and towering turrets. In concept, it’s about recreating a historical atmosphere and immersing yourself in times when knights roamed kingdoms and fierce dragons lurked.

Japanese Castle

Start with lush landscapes filled with gigantic trees and swift rivers to set the perfect scene for monstrous creatures to roam about freely. Building your mansion using darker blocks like Obsidian or Dark Oak Wood will give off that eerie vibe from the start. You could feature things like broken windows made out of Glass panels, cobwebs scattered around corners, and dark tunnels leading to nowhere.

Because Minecraft is so flexible and full of blocks, you can rebuild literally any famous landmark you can imagine. Ambitious projects like these can be a great way to improve your building and architectural skills, while also giving you a taste of the journey the original builders went through. A single bolt of lightning could burn down your entire treehouse because of how flammable wood and leaf blocks are, so use a lightning rod to redirect any dangerous strikes.

From medieval tables to outdoor tropical buffets; from bar kitchens to BBQs, there's a kitchen waiting to be built in your world. Thanks to the Minecraft 1.18 Caves & Cliffs update, Minecraft’s terrain is now more mountainous than ever, and the best mountain seeds serve as a testament to that. As captured by TheBestCubeHD, such a high base serves as a perfect place to look over several smaller bases.

Castle Falkenstein

Build a jousting arena where knights compete valiantly or a stage for performers to delight onlookers – every detail will serve as a beautiful personal touch echoing back to medieval times. Ideal for those who love towering bookshelves laden with wisdom-filled books from floor to ceiling, this idea allows great scope for design creativity. Don’t forget to add charming street lamps for that romantic nighttime allure. Welcome all the charm of a Venice-inspired Canal City into your Minecraft environment. Set between water bodies; the city will be accessible through fairy-tale-esque gondolas meandering through clear blue canals. Strange vegetation using Chorus plants and filling your land with Endermen or Shulkers would not just add thematic consistency but also present unique challenges for survival.

Underwater Base

This iconic style makes the castle feel like it was ripped from the ground to float in the sky. If we are discussing the most epic castles in Minecraft, our list can’t be complete without King’s Landing from Game of Thrones. This iconic castle’s design is truly inspiring in terms of detail, style, and massive size. But the best part about King’s landing is that it’s a part of WesterosCraft‘s online server. So, you can play on it with your friends without putting the effort to build this castle.

Really helpful to have it saved if you are working on a tall building or making a futuristic castle, whatever tickles your imagination. If your answer is not then you should visit this post we made with this really cool redstone door created by CraftMine98. In the post you will find a video tutorial on how he made it and it’s pretty easy to replicate.

Luckily, BigTonyMC shared a cool Tavern design that all survival players can try out in their world. Even if you don’t have a Mediaval-styled house or town, you can still construct the Tavern which can be used as a spot where all your online friends hang out. It’s always a welcoming change to create something inspired by the Medieval era in Minecraft.

Imagine your Minecraft world transformed into an eerie, dystopian realm. Your post-apocalyptic city could feature desolate, crumbling buildings empty streets overgrown with nature and littered with the remains of old vehicles. Envision houses nestled into cavern walls lit by charismatic glowstones, hanging bridges above underground rivers, mind-boggling mazes awaiting exploration.

Keeping that in mind, the Youtuber Snow Architecture‘s castle design creates a farmhouse in the form of a castle. You can grow wheat, potato, bamboo, and a lot of other food items in Minecraft. Most people get introduced to the concept of castles through fairy tales. So, it’s no surprise that our next Minecraft castle idea stems from the tale of Cinderella. Youtube creator Sjin captured this concept well and recreated the Cinderella castle down to the tee.

Even better, shift it to the waterfront and have a tropical-themed buffet. Stock some boats on the water and some chests filled with Fishing Rods to keep the fish coming, and throw down a Jukebox and some Lanterns to complete the vibe of your cookout. There are many ways to customize this waterfront idea with amazing views to boot. As you plan out a kitchen design, your choice will depend on what matters most to you, such as lighting, aesthetic, size and location.

With the ever-expanding list of water-dwelling mobs in Minecraft, there hasn’t been a better time than now to work on constructing an aquarium of your own. If you’re wanting to take your animal farming to the next level, you can produce intricate systems, involving Redstone or not, that can automatically farm animal resources for you. Consider which angle of fantasy you are aiming for, and that will dictate the blocks you use, color schemes, and decoration aesthetics. As with any Minecraft build, the more forethought you give to a build, the better it will turn out, and the more likely you will be to follow through and have the determination to complete it. If Hollywood piques your interest, why not introduce some of its charms into your game with a movie studio lot? Build sprawling soundstages equipped for every scene, be it for a romantic film set in Paris or an epic space saga on another galaxy.

Interior Design Sketching A Must Have for Original Artistic Design in 2020

interior design drawings

In this post I describe what it’s all about and highlight interior design sketching techniques used by professionals as-well-as beginners. Moreover, I’ll tell you why the hand drawn interior design concept is so important. Design software for interior designers varies in scope and, therefore, so do the costs. Costs can range from free—likely with more limited features—to monthly plans starting out as low as $5 or up to $199 per month or more.

Step 5: Impress Your Clients With Beautiful 3D Renderings

You may be sure you’re receiving an original, innovative design if your interior designer provides drawings. Because of this, interior sketching must be taken into consideration when selecting an interior designer. Hand sketching is an extremely rare and special ability in today’s digital world. Furthermore, there are very few interior designers who are truly skilled at it. It involves more than just drawing; it involves molding lovely forms onto a sheet of paper. Drawing is comparable to cooking in this respect since you must season and taste the dish before serving it to others.

Simply click and drag to draw your walls – select windows, doors, stairs, and furniture and drag-and-drop them into place. The handy measurement and guideline tools give you accurate results. Pen and paper sketches don’t really cut it anymore, but realistic 2D or 3D visualizations can virtually show the possibilities.

“There is a freedom of imagination that comes from such a flexible medium that is helpful when designing a room, a piece of furniture, or even a small architectural detail. There is also a deeper, more human connection to the finished product,” he shares. With the space planned and the furniture placed in a 2D visualization, you and your client can imagine what the new design will look like. But adding a 3D representation of the project can bring the details into clear focus so you and your client are on exactly the same page.

Additionally, we’ll explain the significance of the hand-sketched interior design idea. A good hand drawn design concept will look twice as good if you photograph it well! This is what got me started getting noticed online – especially on Instagram. I was experimenting with photography and testing different cameras and lenses. At the time, I thought professional photography won’t do much for beginners like me but it actually helped with presenting my interior design sketching. Each has their own teams of editors, publicists, marketers and designers, supported by central experts in Sales, Rights, Production, Legal, and beyond. They simply have the means to find and support talent, develop their books, and market them to a wide audience. Every process is already set, accompanied by experienced individuals ready to guide you to success. A person trying to self-publish won’t have that kind of support and reach. Technology has made it possible for anyone to write a book, publish it, and distribute it to the masses.

Since 1994, Santa Monica Press has been one of the most prominent publishers on West Coast. Recognized and esteemed experts of various fields have worked as authors with the publisher. Jeffrey Goldman, the owner and founder of the company has a PhD and has worked as an editor, journalist, writer, researcher and book designer.

Types of publishers

Manic D Press is an award-winning independent literary publisher in San Francisco, CA. Since its founding in 1984, the press has always been at the forefront of alternative and underground literature and a refuge for new authors previously snubbed by big publishing houses. They’re all about publishing edgy, unconventional, and thought-provoking works across various genres, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, short story collections, and graphic novels. MSI Press is one of the fastest-growing small publishers in the Golden State. It started as a nonprofit publisher of foreign language educational materials and blossomed into an award-winning traditional publishing house in San Jose, CA. It provides a platform for local and international authors to share their stories, insights, and perspectives.

Cormorant Books

Computer games, streaming apps, and social media publish content in various ways that can keep audiences more engaged. Marketing additional products closely related to a major film, such as Star Wars, is an example of tie-in publishing. These products include but are not limited to spin-off books, graphic novels, soundtrack albums, computer games, models and toys, social media posts, and promotional publications. Examples of tie-in publishing based on books are the Harry Potter and James Bond franchises.

The publisher will consider submissions either sent by agents or directly from authors. This is an imprint of Hachette, one of the big five publishers, and is open for submissions from residents of Australia and New Zealand. It was founded in 1826 by Louis Hachette, originally in France, but has since scaled its operations to Australia, the UK, and USA. They accept submissions from Canadian authors and will not accept unsolicited submissions from other parts of the world.

Did you know that John Steinbeck, one of America’s most celebrated authors, drew inspiration from California’s Salinas Valley for many of his novels, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning “The Grapes of Wrath”? California’s diverse landscapes and rich history have made it a central character in countless literary works over the years. Even with print-on-demand and in-store e-book sales, publishing houses still hold an advantage when it comes to print sales. Their physical distribution chains are still too large to be overcome. But while there’s certainly more competition, these publishing companies are quickly adapting to the times. They’ve quickly set up their own digital networks while maintaining their traditional ones.

If the publishing house likes your work, they’ll buy the rights to your book. Contracts vary from house to house but you usually get an advance, royalty rates, and sometimes multiple-book deals. This London-based publisher accepts submissions of fiction, poetry, and even photography. Novelists must send a short synopsis together with their submissions of 30 pages, in PDF format. Poets are required to submit 30 pages of their material while photographers have to first send an outline of their idea.

Scams are a dime a dozen in the publishing industry, and you want to make 100% sure that you’re dealing with a legitimate publishing company. Again, we strongly recommend reading this post and Writer Beware to know what red flags to watch out for. The Penguin Publishing Group is one of the leading trade book publishers in the United States, comprised of imprints with a long and rich history dating back to the nineteenth century. The group merged with Putnam Berkley to become Penguin Putnam, Inc. in 1996, Penguin Group (USA) in 2003, and Penguin Publishing Group in 2014. This process takes time, and there is no guarantee that your manuscript will find an editor who wants to publish it. Many manuscripts take multiple rounds of submissions spanning weeks or even years to find the right home.

From there, you can find out more about those agents or similar ones through resources such as Query Tracker, Poets & Writers Literary Agents Database, Writer’s Digest Books, or the Deals page on Publishers Marketplace. While we are working to create and expand open submission opportunities through programs like the Berkley Open Submission Program, in most cases an agent is still required and advisable. For Mr. Pigott, 64, who has written a book about the history of the city’s courthouses, the real significance is what it says about the status of a few blocks of Manhattan as a nexus. He pointed out that Mr. Trump’s civil fraud case and defamation case also both played out this year in courthouses within spitting distance of the criminal trial. The third witness in the criminal trial of Donald J. Trump is Gary Farro, a banker who is testifying on Friday about his work with Mr. Trump’s former lawyer and fixer on a $130,000 hush-money deal in 2016. Stormy Daniels tried to benefit from Donald J. Trump’s political momentum in early 2016, setting off the saga that ultimately resulted in his criminal trial. Notably, Mr. Pecker kept his eyes locked on exhibits and prosecutors while discussing Mr. Trump’s temper, not once glancing over at the former president in the courtroom. Mr. Trump appeared subdued during Mr. Pecker’s testimony, as he has for most of the trial, but at one point, he motioned to the lawyers next to him and crossed his arms over his chest. A recurring theme in the testimony of David Pecker, the former publisher of The National Enquirer, has been how people around Donald J. Trump lived in fear of his wrath. Mr. Pigott, however, is drawn to the history of the legal system before the 20th century and how it evolved through its buildings.

Los Angeles Skin Fade Haircuts: Zero Fade, Bald Fade, Low Skin Fade

design taper fade

The low taper fade is stylish and easy to get, and continues to be the most popular fade haircut for guys. The low taper can be combined with any number of classic and modern men’s hairstyles. While the low cut still offers the traditional short sides and back, the tapered haircut doesn’t expose too much of the scalp. The undercut taper fade is a modern haircut that has been trendy in recent years. By blending these popular cuts, the undercut taper creates a disconnected look with longer hair on top and short hair on the sides and back. This undercut and taper fade combination pairs nicely with the best hairstyles for men, including the slick back, faux hawk and comb over.

Brushed Back Taper Fade Mid

The razor fade is essentially where your barber shaves the sides. The burst fade curves around the ears and down the neck for a unique look. And the drop fade starts high or low and curves around the neck, making it slightly different. You can make any fade a drop taper so ask your barber if the look is right for you. The brushed up taper fade is a sweet balance between a blowout and spiky hair. A brush up fade works nicely with thick hair, and offers an effortless styling option.

The taper fade with a line can be a great way to add extra flair to a cool style. A taper fade and line haircut starts with a classic fade cut and requires that your barber shave a thick line into the side of your head with a razor. This rebellious bad-boy look can be an attention-grabber that results in a rugged and sexy vibe. Most barbers will use hair clippers to buzz down hair for a faded look while using scissors to create a tapered finish.

If you’re not one for super-short hair or skin fades, try a cut like this. The hair on the sides is tapered but left a bit longer for more volume (perfect for oval or elongated faces). But outside of these characteristics, a tapered fade can have a lot of variation. You’ll see examples of this haircut with super long or very short tops, drop or skin fades, differently styled hair on top, and various lengths for the sides and back. A neckline hair design can be a bold look for some; others will prefer a traditional neck taper.

This combines two classic looks, the faux hawk with the taper fade to create a very trendy look that will ensure you stand out wherever you go. Similar to getting the regular fade cut, instruct your barber to leave the hair on top of mid-length in the front and slightly shorter in the back. The blowout, a voluminous hairstyle similar to the pompadour, is another that can be updated for the modern day with a taper fade. This will result in a high and tight finish that can look super cool. It’s the ultimate in low maintenance and will help keep you cool in the summer months.

The undercut taper fade looks superb when the hair on top is slicked back, put into a hard side-part or even just with a regular comb over. To be honest, any style of undercut seen in Peaky Blinders would look pretty damn good with a taper fade. The undercut is already a relatively striking hairstyle for men. Of course, you can choose what level of taper fade you want with your afro, such as a low afro taper fade to remove just a small amount of hair, or you can go higher. A bald taper fade also allows you to show off your personality through your clothing choices instead, which is no bad thing.

The taper fade starts with long hair on top and gradually tapers the hair shorter down the sides of the head. The fading process blends the longer hair on top into the sides to create a clean faded or tapered style. The drop fade taper is a fresh haircut that curves around the head and down the back for a unique tapered style. This drop taper haircut can be a great way to create a cool look and add a charming dimension to your hairstyle.

Among the myriad of options, the taper fade has emerged as a timeless and versatile choice that continues to captivate the hearts and heads of style-conscious men worldwide.

A gentleman’s haircut with a taper fade on the sides can transform a classic style into a modern look. For this reason, most of the latest hairstyles include a taper or fade. This short sides and back taper is the perfect example of how a good fade haircut can complement the best hairstyles for men. Naturally, short hairstyle requires a short taper fade on the sides for necessary contrast.

The side part taper fade is the modern version of a classic style. Known as the gentleman’s haircut, the side part taper offers a classy and elegant look that can easily evolve to be stylish and edgy. The taper fade undercut combines the best haircut styles for men. While the undercut buzzes the sides all around and trims the hair one-length, the undercut fade tapers the cut and blends the look. For the best result though, it makes sense to show them a pic of your desired look. So, if you prefer shorter haircuts, complement them with a high taper haircut for more definition.

Then, run a fine-toothed comb through your hair to create that perfectly refined look. Here, the gradient sits a little higher on the head, but still without being too dramatic. 'House of Leaves changed my life': the cult novel at 20 Books

house of leaves

The two works cross-pollinated heavily over the course of their creations, each inspiring the other in various ways. Poe's statement on the connection between the two works is that they are parallax views of the same story. House of Leaves refers to Poe and her songs several times, not only limited to her album Haunted, but Hello as well. One example occurs when the character Karen Green is interviewing various academics on their interpretations of the short film "Exploration #4"; she consults a "Poet," but there is a space between the "Poe" and the "t," suggesting that Poe at one point commented on the book. An appendix provided by the editors includes a miscellany of writings from both Zampanò and Truant excluded from the body of the book, an obituary for Truant's birth father, and a series of letters later compiled in the Whalestoe Letters.

Unable to even determine Zampanò's full name, Truant only confirms that Zampanò became blind some time during the 1950s, and was approximately eighty years old at the time of his death. Truant also learns that Zampanò was erratic and capricious in his lifestyle and writing habits, diagnosing him with graphomania. Parallel to the plot of the Record, Truant's footnotes document his descent into obsession, delusions, and paranoia as he compiles the manuscript. He recounts tales of sexual encounters, his lust for a tattooed dancer he calls Thumper, and his bar-hopping with his friend Lude.

The text is further marred by missing pages, missing footnotes, missing supplemental documents, and text accidentally or deliberately destroyed by Zampanò, Truant, or unknown causes. House of Leaves is also the "book," painstakingly compiled by a strange old man named Zampanò, acquired after his death by Johnny Truant, an apathetic slacker mired in drugs and sad sex. Johnny's obsessive immersion in the manuscript echoes the black-hole threat of the hallway to Navidson; both are caught then consumed by the need to go deeper than safety, or sanity, can support; both will risk their lives in pursuit of the secret of the hallway, and both will be damaged by the experience in ways they cannot anticipate or escape. The questions, author biography, and suggested reading that follow are intended to enhance your group’s reading and discussion of Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves. We hope they will provide you with a variety of ways of thinking and talking about this truly challenging and extraordinary book. When a mysterious doorway appears, leading to a maze of smooth, ash-grey walls, Will Navidson – the house’s owner, a Pulitzer prize-winning photojournalist – goes in to investigate.

The Navidson Record

She resumed living in the house, becoming confident that Navidson can still be found within. She found Navidson emaciated and maimed by frostbite and injury, but they materialized together safely outside the house. The film concludes with Navidson and Karen marrying, and reuniting their family in Vermont. Ultimately, Navidson returned to the house alone, leaving only a seemingly incoherent letter for Karen.

Johnny Truant

He experiences a series of episodes in which he breaks with reality; he thinks events occur then immediately finds out they did not occur, so much so that the reader is often unsure of what is happening in the reality of the novel. Johnny sometimes sees or experiences “the beast”—a type of animal or being with a threatening, destructive presence. Johnny’s physical health deteriorates, and he leaves his apartment less and less, finally getting fired from the tattoo shop. Eventually, Johnny decides to put the manuscript in storage and goes on a quest to Virginia, to find the house on Ash Tree Lane recorded in the documentary The Navidson Record. While travelling, he encounters a band who are in possession of the manuscript he has been working on; they report that the manuscript has been distributed.

Books

Truant, an apprentice at a Los Angeles tattoo parlor, decided to complete and submit the work for posthumous publication. The rest of the book is punctuated by footnotes by Truant, whether fact-checking, editorializing, translating, or interjecting seemingly irrelevant personal anecdotes. Truant's work is further supplemented by uncredited professional editors, who profess to have, in turn, never met Truant. When Johnny Truant attempts to organize the many fragments of a strange manuscript by a dead blind man, it gains possession of his very soul. The manuscript is a complex commentary on a documentary film (The Navidson Record) about a house that defies all the laws of physics. Navidson's exploration of a seemingly endless, totally dark, and constantly changing labyrinth in the house becomes an examination of truth, perception, and darkness itself.

About Mark Z. Danielewski

In 2001, a remake of Poe's song "Hey Pretty (Drive-By 2001 Mix)," which featured Danielewski reading from House of Leaves, reached #13 on Billboard's Alternative Chart. That summer, Poe and Danielewski spent three months as the opening act for Depeche Mode's 2001 North American tour. On this tour, he played Madison Square Garden.[14] He also composed the song "A Rose Is a Rose,"[29] which Poe sang on the Lounge-a-Palooza compilation album. Peters had no idea there was a blind character in House of Leaves before he started it, and says the book’s use of sound, rather than visual descriptions, made it a unique reading experience for him. “We always read about visual descriptions of characters, places and objects, but what literature does not understand is, though sight is an important sense, it is one of five,” he says.

Though Pelafina's letters and Johnny's footnotes contain similar accounts of their past, their memories also differ greatly at times, due to both Pelafina's and Johnny's questionable mental states. Pelafina was placed in the mental institution after supposedly attempting to strangle Johnny, only to be stopped by her husband. Johnny claims that his mother meant him no harm and claimed to strangle him only to protect him from missing her. It is unclear, however, if Johnny's statements about the incident—or any of his other statements, for that matter—are factual.

Will Navidson, a character who is a Pulitzer-Prize winning photojournalist, and his partner, Karen Green, a former model, move into the house on Ash Tree Lane in Virginia with their children, Chad and Daisy. They discover that the house is slightly bigger on the outside than on the inside. At first, the hallway seems only a few feet in length but it grows and sparks in Will the need for investigation. Will enlists help from explorers Holloway Roberts, Jed Leeder, and Wax Hook to investigate the hallway.

The book interweaves the manuscript with over 400 footnotes to works real and imagined, thus illuminating both the text and Truant's mental disintegration. First novelist Danielewski employs avant-garde page layouts that are occasionally a bit too clever but are generally highly effective. Although it may be consigned to the "horror" genre, this novel is also a psychological thriller, a quest, a literary hoax, a dark comedy, and a work of cultural criticism.

While travelling, Johnny also visits The Whalestoe Institute, the psychiatric hospital where his mother lived, prior to her suicide. Rather than Danielewski, the title page of House of Leaves credits two men named Zampanò and Johnny Truant as its authors. In an introduction dated 1998, Truant claims to have found the book as an unfinished manuscript left by the recently deceased Zampanò, having never met the author in life.

The album Haunted also draws heavily from the novel, featuring tracks called "House of Leaves", "Exploration B" and "5&½ Minute Hallway", and many less obvious references. The video for "Hey Pretty" also features Mark Danielewski reading from House of Leaves (pp. 88–89), and in House of Leaves, the band Liberty Bell's lyrics were also songs on Poe's album. The book was followed by a companion piece called The Whalestoe Letters, a series of letters written to the character Johnny Truant by his mother while she was confined in a mental institution. Arriving at the house to help Navidson measure its dimensions, Tom is said to have improved the family's relationships and mood during his presence. Tom extended his stay to assist in the hallway explorations and subsequent rescue, in which he camped alone for days in the maze to maintain radio contact, built an improvised pulley to assist in the rescue, and, ultimately, saved the Navidsons' children from the house at the cost of his own life.

On their mission, Holloway breaks with reality and shoots Wax and Jed, killing the latter. After everyone leaves the hallway, the house starts a type of attack on the owners, forcing everyone to leave. House of Leaves was accompanied by a companion piece (or vice versa), a full-length album called Haunted recorded by Danielewski's sister, Anne Danielewski, known professionally as Poe.

Entirely written by Truant, this chapter recounts the conclusion of his downward spiral after Lude's death. Truant invents two different accounts of positive turnarounds, only to disavow both. He then describes setting fire to the completed manuscript, and, after a struck-out passage in purple – the only such passage in the entire book – Truant tells an ambiguous story about a woman who loses her baby in childbirth. Meanwhile, Karen followed Navidson, finding the house now normal and the hallway gone.

Navidson's camera captured himself attempting to read a book titled House of Leaves in total darkness; having lost all supplies, he resorted to burning the book page by page to provide light for reading. Truant, however, debunks The Navidson Record as a wholesale fabrication, citing his own findings that the film does not exist; that Navidson is a fictionalization of the real-life photojournalist Kevin Carter; and that Zampanò outright invented numerous sources and quotes. Truant also determines that Zampanò copied secondary sources to hide his own inexpertise in various subjects. More paradoxically, Truant notes that Zampanò purports to authoritatively write about filmmaking and cinematography despite being blind. At the same time, Truant's own factual errors, limited knowledge, and open admission to adulterating Zampanò's work also throw his own reliability into question.

The novel is written as a work of epistolary fiction and metafiction focusing on a fictional documentary film titled the Navidson Record, presented as a story within a story discussed in a handwritten monograph recovered by the primary narrator, Johnny Truant. The narrative makes heavy use of multiperspectivity as Truant's footnotes chronicle his efforts to transcribe the manuscript, which itself reveals the Navidson Record's supposed narrative through transcriptions and analysis depicting a story of a family who discovers a larger-on-the-inside labyrinth in their house. Johnny Truant is a tattoo shop employee living in Hollywood who frequently drinks, uses drugs, and has sex with women. He and his friend, Lude, discover The Navidson Record in the room of a recently-deceased man named Zampanò. Johnny takes the manuscript home and begins reading it, becoming more and more obsessed with it as time goes on. He starts compiling a series of footnotes to Zampanò’s text, in which the actions of his own life unfold.
